Window Tinting and Pennsylvania - Rules and Laws
Each XPEL Window Tint Film package available here at Prestige Auto Armor follows the rules and regulations in place for the state of Pennsylvania regarding both darkness and reflectivity. We do not offer any window tinting package that goes outside the realm of what is allowed both in Valencia, Pennsylvania and across our state, though we have many clients curious about these regulations.
First, let’s begin with window tint film darkness requirements. On a small vehicle like a Sedan, the windshield must allow at least 70% visible light transmission, the front driver and passenger side windows have to also allow for 70% visible light transmission. Additionally, the same rule applies for driver and passenger side rear windows and the rear windshield. That 70% VLT is perfect for the front windows and windshield of trucks and SUVs, while the rear windows and windshield can be as dark as you like.
When discussing window tint reflectiveness, the state of Pennsylvania does not allow for any window tint films to be mirrored or metallic. Essentially, they must not be any more reflective than traditional factory windows.
